Feature guide

AI reminders by text message

Capture a task in the conversation you already use, then get a message when it needs attention. Start with the delivery channel and how you will change or stop the reminder.

What a completed task looks like

A reminder should come back to you at a confirmed time, in a channel you actually notice. A calendar entry or a reassuring reply alone does not establish that outcome.

The decisions that change your shortlist

SMS, iMessage, or another app?

Choose an explicitly supported channel. A product described as textable may deliver through iMessage, RCS, WhatsApp, or Telegram without promising standard SMS. Check the onboarding route for your device.

One alert or a continuing routine?

A single reminder needs a due time. A repeating task also needs a frequency, exceptions, and an end condition. A follow-up based on whether someone replies may require access to the relevant account.

Can you correct it in one reply?

Move a test reminder, list what is active, and cancel it. The service should make it clear whether it updated the original item or created another notification.

Example first message

Try one complete reminder

Remind me to return the library books on October 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. America/Toronto. Send the reminder in this chat. Confirm the date and time you saved.

How to evaluate the result

  • Use a near-term test first and confirm the actual message arrives.
  • Change that same reminder to a different time and check for duplicates.
  • Cancel the test and ask for the remaining active reminders.

Common questions

Can I get AI reminders through standard SMS?

Some agents explicitly support SMS; Homer is one documented example. Do not infer SMS support from the word text. The app profile and official signup page are the places to check device, country, and channel availability.

Do I need to connect my calendar?

Not necessarily for a simple time-based reminder. Ask what a particular product requires. Calendar access becomes relevant when the reminder depends on an appointment or you want to add an event as well.

Can the AI remind somebody else?

A reminder sent to you and a message sent to another person are different actions. Establish the supported behavior first. For a shared task, name the owner and use a group or household feature that the participants have agreed to use.
