Feature guide

AI agents for group chats and shared planning

Bring the assistant into the place where a plan is being made, or give the household a common view of what needs doing. These are different approaches to the same problem: keeping people aligned.

What a completed task looks like

A useful shared plan states what was decided, who owns the next step, and what is still unresolved. Everyone affected should be able to find the same current version.

The decisions that change your shortlist

Conversation helper or household organizer?

A group-chat agent can help where the discussion already happens. A household organizer is more useful when the final schedule and assigned tasks need their own shared view. Choose the workflow the participants will actually revisit.

What is shared with the assistant?

Tell participants what the assistant is for before adding it. Establish which messages it receives and whether it can draw from a participant's connected accounts. Start with ordinary planning details that everyone expects to share.

Who closes the loop?

Name one owner for each reservation, purchase, or pickup. Ask the agent to keep proposals separate from confirmed decisions. Group agreement does not itself establish that a business accepted a reservation.

Example first message

Turn a group discussion into a decision

Help us plan dinner for six on October 23, 2026. Keep our agreed budget, neighborhood, and dietary preferences in one summary. List undecided items separately. Suggest options, but ask before making any reservation.

How to evaluate the result

  • Have each participant confirm or correct the shared constraints.
  • Change one agreed detail and ask for the current plan again.
  • Assign an owner to confirm the booking and share the actual reservation details.

This is a suggested trial, not a transcript or a claim that each service supports every step.

Common questions

Can I add an AI assistant to a group chat?

Some products document this explicitly. Folk names iMessage and Telegram groups, and Continua describes group-chat access. Confirm the specific messenger and joining flow before inviting the group.

Will it read my other private conversations?

Being a contact in a messaging app does not establish access to your other conversations. Review the operator's documentation and any connected-account permissions. Folk describes a separate group memory; treat that as a documented product policy, not an independent audit.

Can the same tool handle school schedules and family tasks?

A household-focused service may combine those jobs. Ohai describes extracting dates from school emails and documents. Review the source dates, child or household member, time zone, and responsible person before relying on the resulting schedule.
